Circle added Sui mainnet and testnet support to Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol V2 on October 8. Its dated release notes identify Sui as domain 8, while the current package reference names the V2 components deployed in both environments.
The change concerns the transfer protocol version. Native USDC arrived on Sui in October 2024, and Sui's earlier CCTP integration was announced that December. This update should not be confused with the token's original launch or the first availability of CCTP on the network.
The Sui package reference describes four Move packages: MessageTransmitterV2, TokenMessengerMinterV2, StablecoinHandler and CctpExtensions. It lists separate mainnet and testnet package and state-object addresses. Package IDs identify code used in function calls; state-object IDs identify shared protocol state. Both environments use Circle's domain identifier 8, which is distinct from a public blockchain chain ID.
CCTP's documented transfer mechanism burns native USDC on the source blockchain, obtains a signed message from Circle's offchain attestation service and mints native USDC on the destination. This is a burn-and-mint flow, rather than a swap into a separately wrapped token.
Capabilities still depend on the selected blockchain. Circle's current support table lists Sui as a Standard Transfer source, with Fast Transfer source support marked not applicable (N/A). A V2 integration therefore does not mean every V2 feature applies to Sui in the same way.
For developers, the concrete change is a documented V2 deployment to integrate against. Correct environment and package references remain necessary. Protocol support alone does not establish that a particular wallet or application has enabled a route; the release does not identify a specific application rollout.
